Search for Peace #1
Search for Peace
Lyrics by Annie Addington
It’s time to ride the waves
And hope my heart behaves
As the starlight pierces the ocean
Sounds from the deepest depths can be heard
Oh precious Mother Earth
Thank you for giving birth
To the wondrous trees, crystal waters
Glorious creatures
What has occurred.
Lost in the night
Such a crowd, such a sight
Silently screaming
Feeling the might
Of unified seekers
of Truth and of Light
Spreading their love
Refusing to fight
Oh, how the ocean swells
Lifting me high she tells
Tales of those who had found an answer
Living a life inside
In such peace.
Let this great wound be healed
Now that the Truth’s revealed
Gather forces, lifting each other
Knowing that Love alone can prevail.
With McCoy Tyner’s Search for Peace as an inspiration, our idea is to have an interactive piece of music, reaching out to other musicians over the world, to participate with the ability to use the individual tracks as a basis for their recording, so they can create their own version of Search for Peace. For our first presentation, Jamil Ghattas has prepared the intro, the piano, the bass and the sax. David Picton has provided the drum track.
I have written lyrics and sing them in place of the sax of the original track. There are two solo sections. One of them is with François de Lima on trombone! We will call this one Search for Peace #1. We can't wait to hear #2, #3, and on and on. So, now , what can YOU do with these tracks? What do YOU play? Sing? Can’t wait to hear your ideas!
Peace!
