About the Artist
Gloria McLean, a choreographer/dancer, is a founding member of Andes Dance Collective (AKA Andes Dancing in the Park on Facebook). She is submitting this film on behalf of the Collective and filmmaker Torkil Stavdal. She is artistic director of LIFEDANCE based in NYC and in Andes at Squid Farm which she shares with internationally recognized sculptor Ken Hiratsuka, offering classes, workshops, and performances. McLean‘s work has been shown in NYC, the U.S.and internationally. Teaching credits include Asst. Prof. Keimyung University in Daegu, SK; Henry-Bascom Visiting Professor at UW/Madison (2000); George Washington University (1997 and 2000); other adjunct positions. Filmmaker Torkil Stavdal is the founder of Torkil Stavdal Photography, a New York City and Catskills based creative studio specializing in all aspects of visual storytelling. Torkil started his career in Europe, working with photographers including Knut Bry, Massimo Leardini, and Johan Wildhagen. Since relocating from his native Norway to the US in 2008, he has been behind one camera or another, contributing to commercials for brands like BMW, Volkswagen, and Apple, capturing the perfect moments for The New York Times, Elle, and Dwell, or shooting the action on narrative dramas for Netflix, Lionsgate and Marvel. He also works in partnership with Bovina Media Works, a production company he co-founded in 2016.
Composer Marshall Coid pursues a unique multi-discipline career. After graduation from The Juilliard School he toured US/Canada and has appeared in Broadway, Off Broadway, Opera, Concert and Theater engagements, Live Kennedy Center/Lincoln Center TV broadcasts, at The United Nations, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, International Performers Festival (Belgium), Oxford, Yale, Library of Congress, MOMA, New York Shakespeare Festival, Spoleto Festival (USA/Italy), etc. His teaching activities have included Columbia University and master classes across the US. Marshall is currently the onstage violin soloist for CHICAGO on Broadway.
Columbine Macher is from Germany, where she trained at the Folkwang Hochschule under the direction of Pina Bausch. Based in New York since 1987, she has extensively worked with choreographers Eleo Pomare, Maxine Steinman, Xavier Le Roy at MoMA PS1, Simone Forti at MoMA, and others. She has taught at The Ailey School, Ballet Hispanico, Long Island University, Hofstra University, and as a guest artist in the Netherlands, Finland, Taiwan, and Seoul. Columbine presents her own solo and collaborative choreography and creates experimental 16mm dance films.
David Capps has made dances since 1981 and currently teaches at Hunter College/CUNY.
Victoria Lundell was a member of the Mark Morris Dance Group 1994-1997 and The Parsons Dance Company 1990-1993, and has continued dancing with numerous freelance choreographers. She maintains a private practice in bodywork, yoga, and movement modalities, and has made her home in Delaware County since 2003.
Michael Milton is a visual artist, woodworker, musician, and the owner of The Turquoise Barn in Bloomville, NY. He has collaborated with the Andes Dance Collective in 2019 and 2020 as the creator of landscape installations.
